Security forces storm hijacked Jaffar Express, rescue hundreds of passengers
Militants attacked and hijacked the Jaffar Express passenger train in the Bolan Pass, taking civilians hostage. In a deliberate two-day operation, security forces stormed the train, eliminated the hostage-takers and rescued hundreds of passengers.

Meaning "Elimination of Discord", Radd-ul-Fasaad was a nationwide combined operation by the Army, Air Force, Navy, Pakistan Rangers and police to eliminate the residual threat of terrorism from every district of Pakistan.
Launched on 22 February 2017, Radd-ul-Fasaad extended counter-terrorism operations beyond the tribal districts into every province, including Punjab, through combing operations and thousands of intelligence-based operations.
The operation unified all services and law-enforcement agencies under one umbrella objective: area domination, dismantling terrorist networks and their facilitators, and securing the country's borders. It remained the umbrella of Pakistan's internal security effort for years.
