What happens at this centre
The Army Selection & Recruitment Centre, Dera Ismail Khan is where your Army journey physically begins. Everything up to ISSB happens within these gates:
- Registration & document check - CNIC/B-Form, domicile and educational certificates are verified against your online registration.
- Initial test - intelligence (verbal & non-verbal) plus academic MCQs. Many centres now use computerised e-testing.
- Physical test - 1.6 km run, push-ups, chin-ups and ditch crossing, conducted the same day or the next morning.
- Medical examination - height, weight, chest, vision, ENT and general fitness screening by military doctors.
- Preliminary interview - a short personality interview before your file goes forward (officer candidates then await the ISSB call letter).
Test day tips
- Reach before the reporting time on your roll slip - latecomers are sent back at the gate.
- Carry originals plus two photocopy sets of every document.
- Bring your own clipboard, pens and a water bottle for the physical.
- Wear joggers and comfortable clothes - you may run the same day.
- Keep your fee receipt and roll number slip in your hand, not the bag.
- Sleep well the night before; the initial test rewards a fresh mind.
Southern KPK's long-distance centre
DI Khan serves the south of the province - Tank, Bannu, Lakki Marwat and Kulachi among them - and its defining fact is distance: candidates cross the Indus or descend from the hills for hours, some roads served by only a couple of buses a day. The working plan is a two-day visit: arrive, lodge, report fresh. Carry more photocopies than seem reasonable, because back-district candidates who run short have no print shop around the corner to fix it. The centre's batches are smaller than Peshawar's, which cuts queue time at every stage, and local candidates historically do well on the run - the region's daily walking distances are training in themselves.
