About this entry
PMA Long Course is the oldest and most prestigious route to a Regular Commission. Cadets train at the Pakistan Military Academy, Kakul (Abbottabad) - learning leadership, tactics, weapons and academics before being commissioned as Second Lieutenants.
Selection is merit-based and open to candidates from every province and region of Pakistan, including AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan. The intake is followed by an initial test at your nearest Selection Centre, then a four-day ISSB, final medical and interview.
Eligibility requirements
- Citizen of Pakistan (including AJK & GB domicile holders); male, unmarried.
- Intermediate or equivalent qualification with at least 2nd division (55%+).
- Age 16½-22 years on the commencement date of the course.
- Minimum height 5′4″ (162.5 cm) with weight proportionate to age.
- Medically fit in all respects - vision, hearing, joints and physique.
- No court case pending, and not declared medically unfit in a previous ISSB attempt without waiver.

How to apply - step by step
- Register online on the official Pakistan Army recruitment portal (joinpakarmy.gov.pk), or report to the nearest Army Selection & Recruitment Centre as advertised.
- Fill in personal, educational and domicile details carefully and choose your test centre.
- Deposit the prescribed test fee (if applicable) and keep the receipt safe.
- Download or collect your roll number slip with the test date and reporting time.
- On test day, bring original documents and reach the centre before the reporting time.
- Clear the initial test → physical → medical (→ ISSB for officer entries) to reach the final merit list.
Apply only on the official portal: registration happens at joinpakarmy.gov.pk. Never pay agents - Army selection itself is free apart from the advertised test fee.
Documents to bring on test day
- Original CNIC / B-Form (and a photocopy)
- Domicile certificate
- All educational certificates & marks sheets (original + copies)
- Father’s / guardian’s CNIC copy
- 6× passport-size photographs (blue background)
- Registration slip / roll number slip and fee receipt
- Experience or special certificates (hafiz-e-Quran, sports, NCC etc.)
