What happens at this centre
The Army Selection & Recruitment Centre, Rawalpindi is where your Army journey physically begins. Everything up to ISSB happens within these gates:
- Registration & document check - CNIC/B-Form, domicile and educational certificates are verified against your online registration.
- Initial test - intelligence (verbal & non-verbal) plus academic MCQs. Many centres now use computerised e-testing.
- Physical test - 1.6 km run, push-ups, chin-ups and ditch crossing, conducted the same day or the next morning.
- Medical examination - height, weight, chest, vision, ENT and general fitness screening by military doctors.
- Preliminary interview - a short personality interview before your file goes forward (officer candidates then await the ISSB call letter).
Test day tips
- Reach before the reporting time on your roll slip - latecomers are sent back at the gate.
- Carry originals plus two photocopy sets of every document.
- Bring your own clipboard, pens and a water bottle for the physical.
- Wear joggers and comfortable clothes - you may run the same day.
- Keep your fee receipt and roll number slip in your hand, not the bag.
- Sleep well the night before; the initial test rewards a fresh mind.
The busiest Army centre in Pakistan
Pindi's centre sits in the shadow of GHQ, and the workload shows: on peak advertisement days the gates see well over a thousand candidates from Rawalpindi division plus the entire federal capital, because Islamabad has no centre of its own and ICT files are processed here. That volume changes your strategy - reach thirty minutes earlier than the roll slip says, expect the e-testing halls to run multiple sittings, and do not plan same-day return travel; strong batches regularly spill the physical test into the next morning. The upside of a busy centre is experience: the staff run the pipeline like clockwork, and results are pinned on schedule. After clearing, officer candidates from here usually receive ISSB Kohat or ISSB Gujranwala call letters. Check the ICT quota notes if you hold a federal domicile.
