What happens at this centre
The Army Selection & Recruitment Centre, Muzaffarabad is where your Army journey physically begins. Everything up to ISSB happens within these gates:
- Registration & document check - CNIC/B-Form, domicile and educational certificates are verified against your online registration.
- Initial test - intelligence (verbal & non-verbal) plus academic MCQs. Many centres now use computerised e-testing.
- Physical test - 1.6 km run, push-ups, chin-ups and ditch crossing, conducted the same day or the next morning.
- Medical examination - height, weight, chest, vision, ENT and general fitness screening by military doctors.
- Preliminary interview - a short personality interview before your file goes forward (officer candidates then await the ISSB call letter).
Test day tips
- Reach before the reporting time on your roll slip - latecomers are sent back at the gate.
- Carry originals plus two photocopy sets of every document.
- Bring your own clipboard, pens and a water bottle for the physical.
- Wear joggers and comfortable clothes - you may run the same day.
- Keep your fee receipt and roll number slip in your hand, not the bag.
- Sleep well the night before; the initial test rewards a fresh mind.
Kashmir's recruiting gateway
Muzaffarabad's centre serves all ten districts of Azad Jammu and Kashmir - from Neelum's border valleys to Bhimber's southern plains - and it processes one of the most motivated applicant pools in the country; Kashmiri regiments carry the region's name into every parade the Army mounts. The AJK quota applies relaxed height standards, and the centre's medical desk applies them against the domicile, so carry it prominently. Valley candidates should treat the road itself as the first test: Neelum and Leepa valleys in winter need a day's margin for landslides, and mobile coverage thins out up-valley, so confirm your reporting instructions before you climb. Batches here are mid-sized and the staff are used to candidates whose schooling happened across district lines - bring every certificate with every spelling of your name your family has collected. Trades open to AJK candidates change each advertisement.
Relevant jobs at this centre: Soldier Clerk · Nursing Assistant · Technical Trade · PMA Long Course.
Exact address & helpline: centre locations and phone numbers change with cantonment arrangements. Confirm the current address through the official portal joinpakarmy.gov.pk or your district’s advertised notice before travelling.
